Jun 7, 2006 (newstodate): The Ukrainean market for aviation and airport handling is growing at a fast pace.
-We expect this market to grow by 20 percent annually for the next two years, slowing down to an annual growth rate at 15 percent for the next eight years thereafter, says Mark Skinner, Swissport VP Business Development and Projects, Division Europe, Asia, Africa and Middle East.
-We note that our JV-partner in Interavia, Ukraine International Airlines plans to grow from currently 11 to 25 aircraft over the next few years, and airlines like British Airways, Air France and KLM are doubling their frequencies on flights to Ukraine. This will secure a significant growth potential for both passenger, aircraft and air cargo handling at Kiev and other Ukrainean airports.
-If only one or two of these airlines show interest in building a hub in this market, we will definitely invest in air cargo facilities to follow suit, says Mr Skinner.
