Jun 7, 2006 (newstodate): Swedens' fourth largest cargo airport, Orebro Airport saw its cargo volumes up by 29 percent in January-April.
-If this positive trend is sustained we expect to land an all-time high performance for 2006, with an estimated total of 20-24,000 tonnes, says Kjell-ke Westin, Orebro Airport CEO.
-As we generated 16,000 tonnes of cargo in 2005, this will represent an increase by 50 percent, he says.
Orebro Airport has a large volume of cargo charter operations for customers including Ericsson that only last week shipped 800 tonnes of electronics from the airport.
The airport is also benefiting from the cooperation with Cargo Center, Stockholm Arlanda, that directs much traffic to and from the less congested and expensive Orebro rather than Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
