Jun 30, 2006 (newstodate): With effect from July 1, SAS Cargo has set up an independent legal entity to handle air cargo on 12 airport terminals throughout Scandinavia.
Named Spirit Air Cargo Handling Group AB, the new entity is fully owned by SAS Cargo Group A/S.
In 2004, Spirit Air Cargo Handling was established in Sweden at the terminals in Stockholm and Gothenburg, and the process has now been completed with the formation of the new Spirit companies in Denmark and Norway.
With 950 full time employees, Spirit Air Cargo Handling offers air cargo handling at the terminals in Copenhagen and Billund, Denmark, Malmo, Gothenburg and Stockholm in Sweden, Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen, Kristiansand, Trondheim, Bodo and Tromso in Norway.
Earlier this year SAS Cargo outsourced its terminal activities at Newark, USA to Total Airport Services and with the establishment of Spirit Air Cargo Handling Group AB all air cargo handling activities have thus now been separated from SAS Cargo.
