Jun 29, 2006 (newstodate): Russia's Ministry of Transportation has licensed six airlines to join Aeroflot and Iberia in scheduled flights to Spain - a market estimated at USD70-80 million.
The License Commission approved applications for the flights to Spain from S7 Airlines, KrasAir, Transaero, VIM Airlines, Rossiya and KaliningradAvia.
All the companies were licensed to make seven flights a week between Moscow and Madrid or MoscowBarcelona, except KD-Avia that will receive a license to make flights to Madrid and Barcelona from Kaliningrad.
VIM Airlines will fly from Ufa to Barcelona, KrasAir from Krasnoyarsk to Madrid and Barcelona, and S7 Airlines from Novosibirsk and Chelyabinsk to Barcelona.
Aeroflot was granted the highest flight frequency, comprising 14 flights a week from Moscow to Madrid and Barcelona, and three flights to Malaga.
