Jun 27, 2006 (newstodate): Russia may soon see the emergence of its first low cost carrier.
Sources say that the launch of an lcc is a project under evaluation by the airline alliance AiRUnion, while it will become an independent carrier with no strings attached.
The project envisages a fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft to be built up around the new carrier.
Moscow Vnukovo Airport is slated to become the home base of the projected low cost carrier.
