Jun 28, 2006 (newstodate): The Hungarian lcc Wizz Air is heading for a strong market position in Romania.
The carrier has announced the opening of nine new routes from three Romanian cities from January 2007, in addition to its new route from July 14, 2006, between Targu Mures and Budapest.
The new routes to come from January comprise three weekly flights from Bucharest Baneasa Airport to Barcelona, Budapest, London, and Dortmund, respectively, and four weekly flights from Bucharest to Rome.
Also to come are three weekly flights from Arad to Milan, and three weekly operations between Targu Mures and Budapest, Barcelona and Rome, respectively.
With the Romanian market entry, Wizz Air will offer low fare flights from 15 airports and seven Central and Eastern Europe countries to 40 destinations on 69 routes in Europe.
