Jun 13, 2006 (newstodate): The LoI between Airbus, EADS and two Russian partners on cargo conversions of Airbus A320 family aircraft wil be confirmed before the end of this year, paving the road towards a program definition.
-The converted A320 aircraft will have a capacity to carry 10 maindeck AAA containers and three plus four lower deck AKH containers, and a converted A321 aircraft will take 13 maindeck AAA containers and five plus five lower deck AKH containers, says Didier Lenormand, Airbus director marketing A300/A310 family.
The program will be triggered by residual values of the oldest A320 family aircraft approaching some 10 mio USD, and the costs of a conversion may fall around three to four mio USD.
The expected entry into service of the first A320 P2F aircraft to serve as cargo feeder aircraft will be around 2010/1011, according to Mr Lenormand.
