Jun 29, 2006 (newstodate): The Faroe Government will take over Vagar Airport from the Danish CAA, and plans to carry out a long-awaited airport expansion program.
Plans are to extend the runway by 350 m to 1,600, which will allow operations without weight penalty with larger aircraft than the BAe 146/Avro aircraft currently used by its two airline operators, Atlantic Airways and FaroeJet.
Also included in the plans is an extension of the passenger terminal by 5,700 sq.m.
