Jun 30, 2006 (newstodate): At the latest EU Council meeting, the issue of EU-Russia negotiations on an end to Siberian overflight charges were on the agenda - again.
The Council concludes in an ultra-brief statement that the EU-Russia negotiations are proceeding in a "constructive" atmosphere, but EU does not waiver from its hard stance that the issue must be solved as soon as possible and at least before Russia's eventual accession to the WTO.
No immedidate result is, however, visible.
Next possible milestone is on September 8-9, at a so-called Permanent Partnership Council Transport with the Finnish EU Presidency, EU Commissioner Barrot, and the Russian Transport Minister Levitin.
