Jun 30, 2006 (newstodate): Copenhagen Airport is strengthening its position as the prime Baltic gateway.
Within one year, passenger volumes on routes between Copenhagen and Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have increased by 37 percent, mostly comprising tranfer passengers between the Baltic markets and the airport's international routes.
In may, the proportion of Baltic transfer passenger grew by 50 percent, and for the period January-May the growth was 42 percent.
A total of 195,000 passengers travelled between Copenhagen Airport and the Baltic destinations during January-May - an increase by 53,000 passengers, y-o-y.
On an average there are weekly 19 flights by Estonian Air between Copenhagen and Tallinn, 22 flights by airBaltic between Copenhagen and Riga, 12-13 flights by SAS between Copenhagen and Palanga, Lithuania, and 28 weekly flights by airBaltic between Copenhagen and Vilnius.
This makes a grand weekly total of 81-82 passenger flights between Copenhagen Airport and the Baltic destinations.
Besides extensive air cargo trucking, Copenhagen Airport also has 39 weekly integrator freighter flights to the Baltic markets, including 19 flights by RAF-Avia to Riga, and 20 flights by Aviavilsa to Vilnius.
