Jun 2, 2006 (newstodate): The battle between Airbus and Boeing over the order for 22 new long range aircraft, A350 or Boeing 787, is raging as both parties court Russia with overwhelming pledges of investments in the aerospace industry.
Lately Boeing has pledged itself to invest USD 27 billion in contracts over the next 30 years, and Airbus has earlier aired intentions of committing itself to USD 25 billion worth of partnerships including development of new aircraft, and an A320 cargo conversion program.
The contract with Aeroflot for delivery of 22 new aircraft is reportedly some USD three billion, and a decision is long overdue after the tender was closed last year.
