Jun 6, 2006 (newstodate): In a recent message, ACI Europe refutes the opinion that European airports are unduly capitalising on their assets to the disadvantage of airlines.
-Recent descriptions of Europe's airports as expensive and inefficient by IATA fail to tell the true story that of the massive multibillion Euro investments made annually by airports in new and improved infrastructure and facilities to meet the needs of their airline
customers, the message says.
-Indeed figures from ICAO reveal that airport charges have remained stable at about four percent of airline costs on average over the last 30 years.
-Considering the fundamental
nature of the service provided by airports, by any business standard this
represents a relatively small proportion of operating costs.
