May 16, 2006 (newstodate): Belgrade Airport is seeing its cargo volumes growing by 15 percent in 2006.
-The airport generated a total of 8,000 tonnes of cargo in 2005, but there is a strong growth trend in 2006, says Slobodan Jaredic, Belgrade Airport cargo manager.
-Apart from daily freighter operations between Budapest and Zagreb for UPS and TNT, there are currently no sheduled, but rather a number of ad-hoc freighter charter flights at the airport, but plans for the future are to position Belgrade as a prime regional transfer cargo hub, supported by the construction of a new cargo and logistics terminal at Belgrade, in cooperation with a US partner, says Mr Jaredic.
