May 2, 2006 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Transaero plans to continue expansion of its western-built aircraft fleet.
Plans are to acquire five Airbus A320 aircraft for medium-range routes, and four Airbus A340 for longhaul flights.
In August 2005 Transaero received its first of four Boeing 747-200 aircraft, becoming Russia's first Jumbo-operator.
The airline also operates seven Boeing 767 and six Boeing 737 Classic aircraft, and has also six Boeing 737-800 aircraft on order.
