May 26, 2006 (newstodate): The CIS Airport Association of Civil Aviation has named Moscow Domodedovo Airport "Best Airport of the Commonwealth of Independent States 2005".
23 airports of Russia and other CIS countries took part in the contest, headed by a jury comprising representatives of airports, government authorities and non-government organizations.
The list of selection criteria extended to two dozen parameters, with aviation safety and security as key determinants.
The CIS Airport Association of Civil Aviation which was set up in 1990 aims at ensuring competitiveness among airports in Russia and other CIS countries as well as improving passenger services.
Currently, 214 aerospace companies from 22 states are members of the association.
