May 16, 2006 (newstodate): Macedonian Airlines has now received its first of three new CRJ900 ordered.
The aircraft have been acquired by MAT that has invested USD 86 million, financed by two foreign and two Macedonian banks.
After the delivery of the first aircraft, number two will follow in July, 2006, with the third to join in March, 2007.
The carrier originally planned to take in one Embraer 170 and two 175 aircraft, but opted for the CRJ900 instead.
With the new aircraft, the carrier plans to open new routes from Skopje to European destinations including Brussels, London, Munich and Paris.
