May 26, 2006 (newstodate): Pursuing its strategic goal of connecting all airports in Serbia within a unified system of air transport, a high-level team from Belgrade Airport has inspected Sjenica Airport.
The inspection included an assesment of measures required to reopen the airport that was seriously damaged by NATO bombing during the Balkan war.
The inspection concluded that Sjenica Airport has a potential in air cargo for export of agricultural and textile products, with tourism as a another asset.
After solving issues of rights of property, a project plan will be worked out for the revitalisation of the airport.
