May 9, 2006 (newstodate): Finnair Cargo saw its total cargo volumes down by 2.7 percent, to 7,869 tonnes in April.
North Atlantic traffic dragged down the total with a 30.4 percent decrease to 546 tonnes, Europe fell eight percent to 2,150 tonnes, and domestic cargo was down 17.1 percent to 304 tonnes.
The scheduled freighter services also decreased by 13.3 percent, to 1,132 tonnes.
The decreases were influenced by the timing of this year's Easter holidays.
But Easter or not: cargo volumes on the carrier's Far Eastern routes continued to surge, in April by 14 percent to 3,707 tonnes.
The over-all cargo load factor was 65.0 percent - in the Far Eastern traffic 82.6 percent, and in the North Atlantic traffic 78.2 percent.
