May 16, 2006 (newstodate): EBRD is revising its investment strategies for Eastern Europe and Russia in Russia's favour.
EBRD will thus double its investments over the next five years in Russia's infrastructure, including airports that, together with roads and ports, have a massive need for investments.
After many East European countries have now become part of the EU, or embarked on the roads towards EU membership, EBRD considers their transition period to be over, and its investments in this region will therefore be reduced, facilitating the shift of focus towards Russia.
