May 1, 2006 (newstodate): In April, Billund Airport, Denmark, saw its total cargo volumes down by 11.2 percent, y-o-y.
Imports dipped by 5.3 percent to 2,289 tonnes, while exports were down by 17 percent to 2,047 tonnes.
The airport ascribes the decline to the slow traffic during the Easter holidays period that fell in April this year.
For the period January-April, the airport recorded a total of 17,264 tonnes, down 2.7 percent y-o-y, which the airport refers to the unusual high cargo traffic during the first months of 2005, driven by the volume of Tsunami relief flights to the Far East.
