May 24, 2006 (newstodate): Following a strategic review of its services, BA World Cargo has announced its new schedule, effective from June 1, 2006.
The new schedule for the European short haul freighter programme introduced in November 2005 includes a number of minor slot adjustments for the European market, designed to better meet customer needs with more London Heathrow flights and improved departure times.
In a bid to address the eastern trade imbalance, BA World Cargo will also increase rotations from Europe and India with a twice weekly Hong Kong service, routing via Delhi and
Frankfurt, and a weekly Hong Kong service via Frankfurt.
As a result of increasing pressure on yields and high fuel prices, from July 1 Atlanta via London and Frankfurt will be serviced twice a week, and the Hong Kong - London- Frankfurt programme is reduced from eight to six rotations.
The change in schedule will allow BA World Cargo to reduce its freighter fleet by one, to only three freighters from June 1.
