May 31, 2006 (newstodate): airBaltic Cargo is currently in negotiations with various parties in Kaliningrad to select a cargo handling agent from the start of operations by July 2.
Initially, the carrier will operate a Fokker 50 four times per week, offering a limited cargo capacity at some 300 kilos per flight.
-While the capacity is thus rather small, we still expect to see a demand for air cargo on the route as there is not many carriers operating into Kaliningrad, says Irena Azarevica, airBaltic Cargo Sales Representative.
According to ms Azarevica, airBaltic expects mainly cargo imports to Kaliningrad, generated by the carrier's GSAs in the Far East and probably mostly comprising consumer electronics products.
