May 10, 2006 (newstodate): Post Norway's contract with SAS Braathens for mail flights is expiring by the second half of this year, and Port Norway indicates overall dissatisfaction with the current level of operational quality.
It is therefore widely expected that SAS Braathens will find it difficult to secure a contract for the next period, sources say.
11 Norwegian and foreign competitors are reportedly in negotiations with Post Norway over the contract valued at around NOK 200 mio.
Danish regional airline DAT has been operating three ATR-42 freighters in Norway under a contract with SAS Cargo/SAA Braathens Cargo.
As sub-supplier, DAT has performed nightly flights for Post Norway between Oslo and Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim, generating between 40 and 80 tonnes of mail per night.
