Apr 4, 2006 (newstodate): Russian airlines Rossiya and Pulkovo are now amidst their merger process.
The new merged company has submitted its charter to the government for approval, and the "new" airline will have about 70 aircraft in its fleet, including TU-134, TU-214, IL-86 and Boeing 737 aircraft.
The airline plans to take in 16 used Airbus A320, eight TU-214 and IL-96, and 10 RRJs over the next three-four years.
As part of this fleet planning, the new company is pressing for the government to suspend its exhorbitant tax and customs levies on imported foreign aircraft, accruing to 40-50 percent of the net value.
