Apr 11, 2006 (newstodate): The Swedish carrier Viking Airlines has now set May 25 as the launch date for its new route between Stockholm and Beirut.
Originally slated for start by March 16, the launch was suspended due to low demand during the period marked by various political developments, with April 16 as a new deadline.
-Beirut was earlier a busy destination, and we are confident that business is now returning, warranting the new service, says Michael Carlsson, Viking Airlines CEO.
Since December 2005 Viking Airlines, as one of the first European carriers, operates weekly direct flights from Stockholm to Erbil in Iraq, and added flights between Athens and Stockholm on March 23.
