Apr 24, 2006 (newstodate): By mid-July, a tender will be opened for the modernisation and expansion of Romania's Sibiu/Hermannstadt Airport.
-Two main tenders will be opened, one comprising building facilities, and another for all other projects, says Martin Bottesch, Sibiu Airport.
-The project includes building of a new passenger terminal with a planned capacity of 500,000 passengers, and options for later expansion. This terminal will be ready by March, 2007.
-Also included in the total project is a runway extension, from currently 2,000 to 3,000 meter, with new runway lighting and other systems. Also a new tower including ATM equipment will be built, under a separate tender by Romania's Romata ATM authorities.
The projects will be fully completed by the end of 2007, with financial support from EIB.
