Apr 11, 2006 (newstodate): According to Serb Beograd Airport's website, JAT will start operations to New York and Toronto from this summer.
New York flights are planned thrice weekly between May 17 and October 28, while Toronto will be operated twice weekly between June 1 and October 27.
Earlier indications were that JAT would not be allowed to operate the North American routes as Serbia is still rated a Category 2 country by the US FAA.
The solution found by JAT seems to be to operate the routes on a charter, rather than a scheduled basis during the summer season, which would be warranted by the FAA rules
