Apr 6, 2006 (newstodate): Norway's flown export of fresh salmon was up by 8.8 percent y-o-y to 10,994 tonnes during this year's Q1.
Japan remains Norway's single largest market for fresh salmon, constituting 49 percent of the total during Q1, but dropping 4.8 percent in volumes to 5,390 tonnes.
In Q1, 2005, Japan accounted for 56 percent of the total, in line with earlier years.
Second largest market for Norway's flown salmon export is Hong Kong with 2,233 tonnes, up 28.3 percent, followed by China with 1,015 tonnes, up 21.7 percent, Singapore with 588 tonnes, up 43.8 percent, and Taiwan with 518 tonnes, unchanged against last year.
The highest increase among the top-10 importing countries during Q1 was Indonesia, up 93 percent to 139 tonnes.
