Apr 21, 2006 (newstodate): The new Faroese airline, Faroejet will receive its leased Avro RJ 100 aircraft by May 1, in time for the inaugural flight on May 15 between Vagar Airport, the Faroe Islands, and Copenhagen.
If well received in the market, the carrier plans to add a second aircraft before the end of the year, facilitating twice-daily, year-round operations between the two airports.
With a single aircraft only FaroeJet will rely on contracts, currently being negotiated with other Avro RJ 100 operators to provide the redundancy needed for sustaining operational reliability.
Behind the airline stand 950 Faroese investors comprising banks, transport companies, and private individuals.
