Apr 26, 2006 (newstodate): Air Greenland is mulling plans for starting a new route to the USA from Kangerlussuaq in May 2007.
-For a long time now, we have been working with the idea of flying westwards. We are considering whether we should choose Canada or the USA. We will probably choose the USA, where we intend to establish a route between Kangerlussuaq and Baltimore for part of the year, probably May September, said Peter Grnvold Samuelsen, chairman of the Board, at the recent annual general meeting.
- The route will not open until next spring because we need the time in between to prepare the customer base. Initially, our starting point will be the existing fleet of aircraft.
The carrier's fleet includes one Airbus 330-200 and one Boeing 757-200, in addition to regional fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.
