Mar 20, 2006 (newstodate): The Swedish low cost carrier FlyMe is currently looking into prospects for adding air cargo to its passenger operations.
-Air cargo would certainly add prospects for more revenues from our European operations, and the issue is already on our agenda, says Ludvig Georgsson, Fly Me spokesman.
-We will probably prefer an outsourcing model for FlyMe as this would relieve us of the needs for building up an own cargo operations department.
Operating a fleet of four Boeing 737-300 aircraft, Gothenburg-based FlyMe plans to add London/Stansted, Paris/Beauvais, Nice, Amsterdam, Rome/Ciampino, Prague, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Chania in Crete and Rhodes to its route network from March 30.
The carrier that recently acquired Lithuanian Airlines also operates intra-Scandinavian routes from Gothenburg to Stockholm, Malmo, Ostersund and Helsinki.
Icelandic capital holds the majority stake in FlyMe.
