Mar 13, 2006 (newstodate): As part of the Lithuanian National Transport Development Program and Transport Investment Demand Evaluation Program, the runway at Palanga International Airport is to be extended to allow for traffic with larger aircraft.
Currently 2,000 m long, the runway is to be extended by 300 metres, and the width by five metres.
A recent tender drew only one participant, a consortium comprising Siemens and the Finnish company Lemminkainen, and their bid is now being evaluated before a decision is made.
