Mar 10, 2006 (newstodate): Serbia's Nis Constatine the Great International Airport is keen to see more traffic.
JAT has long been expected to start traffic on the airport, but despite repeated rumours there are no indications that this will happen in the coming new summer program either.
In 2005, the airport generated about 27,000 passengers and 450 tones of air cargo.
The government of Serbia and Montenegro has decided to join the European open skies, which will allow European low-cost carriers to operate services to Nis Airport.
Also plans are underway for the launch of a new Serbian lcc, Aeronice that will reportedly start operations from this summer with Nis Airport as its home base.
