Mar 1, 2006 (newstodate): Long overdue, talks between SAS Cargo and NAP are now progressing on the building of a new cargo terminal at Stockholm Arlanda.
NAP is a joint-venture between Swedish Luftfartsverket and Airis, and plans are to let NAP invest in terminal facilities that are then rented to operators.
-We have just met, and a new meeting is scheduled for next week, when we will continue talks on requirements and options, says Anders Skantz, president of Spirit Air Cargo handling AB, SAS Cargo's handling subsidiary.
-Among the topics to be discussed is the exact location of a new cargo terminal in the Cargo South area.
-We will need a terminal between 8-12,000 sq m, and I would expect a new SAS Cargo terminal to become operative by 2008. As the construction period is around 18 months, a decision will probably be taken around the middle of this year, he says.
