Mar 24, 2006 (newstodate): Aeroflot has signed a LoI with Boeing for delivery of six MD-11F freighters.
Aeroflot has long wished to replace its current fleet of four ageing DC-10-40 aircraft, based at Frankfurt Hahn Airport and operated since 1997.
The aircraft are slated for delivery from next year, and will be placed with the company's new cargo company, Aeroflot-Cargo.
The decision is also seen as an indication that Aeroflot will probably order Boeing 787, rather than the competing Airbus A350 as its future long-range aircraft, but this decision has still not been announced.
