Mar 28, 2006 (newstodate): Lithuania's Kaunas Airport is seeing its cargo volumes steadily growing by some 20 percent annually.
-In 2005 we generated a total of 4,500 tonnes of cargo, primarily on charter operations with aircraft up to the size of Boeing 747 and AN-124, says Jurate Baltrusaityte, Kaunas Airport chief of marketing department.
-Express cargo is, however, also of great importance, and this cargo is mostly transferred aircraft-aircraft on the tarmac, requiring little warehousing.
-Although air cargo is of key importance at Kaunas Airport we will therefore not be needing additional terminal capacity beyond the current 6,000 sq m at hand in the immediate future.
