Mar 30, 2006 (newstodate): With effect from April 8, Emirates SkyCargo will introduce a new European freighter service at Vienna Airport.
The carrier will operate an Airbus A310F on the route to Dubai once weekly, offering 39 tonnes of cargo capacity, in addition to the daily 15-20 tonnes belly capacity on its A330-200 passenger aircraft.
-We consider Vienna our hub for the East European region, and we are seeing much business and attractive growth potentials here, says Rene Patek, Emirates SkyCargo manager Austria.
-Shipments from East European markets are primarily small size, so the freighter is not especially important for its ability to take out-size shipments, although they do occur, of course. What is more important is the significant increase in total cargo capacity in these markets which will draw positive response, he says.
