Mar 7, 2006 (newstodate): In January, 2006, the Danish IATA air cargo shrank by 18.1 percent in total volumes, y-o-y, to 4,191 tonnes.
25 top destinations accounted for 58.6 percent of total valume, and only few of these showed growth.
Among the top-25 destinations, Bangkok (no. 10 on the list) performed the best, with a 54 percent growth, to 97.1 tonnes, followed by Taipei (no. 15) that increased in tonnage to 70 tonnes, up 48.3 percent.
Delhi (no. 21) followed third with 46.5 tonnes, up 44.4 percent, followed by Hong Kong (no. 8), 114.9 tonnes and up 24.9 percent, and Chennai (no. 24), up 34.3 percent to 44 tonnes.
Among the remaing destinations on the top-25 list, only Sydney (no. 6), Melbourne (no 11), Dubai (no. 13), Tianjin (no 14), Sao Paolo (no 16), Los Angeles (no 18), and Milwaukee (no 22) showed growth.
In the depressed market, rates were down as well, declining 9.7 percent on an average, with Johannesburg as the only positive exception with a rates increase by 3.4 percent.
