Mar 15, 2006 (newstodate): Preparing for Bulgaria's admission into the EU, the country is now planning for the set-up of seven Border Vet Inspection Posts.
Without certified BVIPs, Bulgaria would not be able to allow imports and transits of a wide range of animal and agricultural products, or live animals.
The BVIPs, supported by EU's Phare program, will be set up at Sofia International Airport, at Bregovo and Gueshevo, on the Danube, Zlatarevo, on the Macedonian border, and at Kalotina, Varna and Bourgas.
The seven BVIPs will be ready by September 1 and should become fully operational by January 1, 2007.
