Mar 3, 2006 (newstodate): Icelandic freighter operator Bluebird Cargo aims at replacing its current Boeing 737-300 fleet with -400 aircraft.
Now in the market for three Boeing 737-400 aircraft for conversion into freighters, Bluebird will initially replace three of the five -300 aircraft now on the roster.
-The intention is to replace at least three, if not all five 737-300 with 737-400 if it turns out to be feasible, says Petur J Eiriksson, Icelandair Cargo managing director.
-Bluebird did have intentions to acquire a 757-200 freighter but the lease contract was cancelled in February 2005, so the carrier has never operated this aircraft, he says.
Bluebird Cargo is now part of the Icelandair Group that also comprises Icelandair that operates two Boeing 757-200F aircraft.
