Mar 10, 2006 (newstodate): Albania is planning to expand its air traffic potentials through opening up more airports for international flights.
In 2004, Tirana Airport Partners, TAP, an international consortium headed by the German Hochtief AirPort, won a 20 years contract for development and management of the airport, and the contract took effect from April 23, 2005.
Since then, Albania has seen a rise in the number of travelers, and TAP is currently negotiating to bring other airlines into the country.
To further boost air traffic, the Albanian government is also considering developing domestic air traffic in the airports of Saranda and Vlora, and the aim is to upgrade these airport to accept international services as well.
