Mar 27, 2006 (newstodate): Latvian carrier in the SAS Group, airBaltic is heading for a busy summer season with a number of new routes.
The new summer program, taking effect from March 26, features nine new direct destinations, together with other changes, and airBaltic will operate 30 direct routes from Riga and 14 from Vilnius in the new program.
From Riga, the airline launched flights to Warsaw on March 26, to be operated six times per week, and to Bergen, three times weekly. Twice weekly flights to Simferopol will open on April 11, flights to Tbilisi will start on May 2, and flights to Baku will open on May 3, both twice weekly.
airBaltic flights from Riga to Liepaja will re-open this May and will operate four times per week.
26th March also saw the introduction of airBaltics new summer timetable for flights from Vilnius. On that date, flights to Stockholm opened and will depart six times weekly. Twice weekly flights to Budapest will start on March 28. In June, airBaltic will open daily direct flights from Vilnius to Warsaw, and on June 1, the airline will open thrice-weekly direct flights to D�sseldorf.
To manage the increasing traffic, airBaltic will add its eighth Boeing 737-500, to be based at Vilnius.
