Mar 14, 2006 (newstodate): Till now a dedicated Boeing operator, Air Astana has received its first A320 aircraft.
Becoming the 10th Airbus aircraft operator in the CIS, Air Astana has signed a lease agreement for the aircraft, and plans to take in a further four aircraft of this type in 2006.
The A320 will be introduced on Air Astana's domestic flights between Alma Ata and Astana, as well as on a number of international routes to Russia, Europe and Asia.
Set up in 2001, Air Astana already operates a fleet of 11 aircraft comprising one Boeing-737-800, two Boeing 737-700, three Boeing 757-200, and five Fokker-50 aircraft.
