Feb 16, 2006 (newstodate): The Ukrainean government has decided to upgrade the country's Kharkiv International Airport.
As part of the plans, construction of a new terminal will start by mid-1006.
To finance the airport reconstruction project, the government is currently negotiating a loan agreement with Japan.
When completed, the project will lift Kharkiv International to international standards, and secure a position among Ukraine's top-5 airports.
The airport is also pivotal in securing the continued development of the state-owned Kharkiv aircraft manifacturing plant that produces Antonov aircraft.
