Feb 7, 2006 (newstodate): The Russian government has now approved a decree on the unification of Russia's aircraft manufacturer that was advocated by the president in February, 2005.
Sources say it may take up to one year after the president's endorsement to be enforced, after which the activities of Sukhoi, Tupolev, Ilyushin, MIG, Yakovlev, and Irkut will be merged.
The conglomerate will have four business units, one of which will be commercial aviation, with the state holding a majority of the shares.
