Feb 14, 2006 (newstodate): EBRDs TurnAround Management, TAM, program has now completed its assistance to bring back Serbian Nis Constatine the Great International Airport into full operations.
The government of Norway donated 4 million euro for rehabilitation of the runway, allowing the airport to resume operations in 2003.
The municipalities of Paris and Barcelona donated buses to the airport company which began to operate local bus services. At the same time, part of the airport was turned into a truck terminal.
The airport now offers flights to Paris, Zurich, Frankfurt, Egypt, and Turkey, and JAT has announced plans to open services to London.
The government of Serbia and Montenegro has decided to join the European open skies, which will allow European low-cost carriers to operate services to Nis Airport.
Also plans are underway for the launch of a new Serbian lcc, Aeronice that will reportedly start operations from this summer with Nis Airport as its home base.
