Feb 7, 2006 (newstodate): By mid-April 2005, WFS will launch its new cargo terminal at Copenhagen Airport.
The company is currently recruiting 30-35 staff, and the terminal will have a maximum annual capacity of handling up to 35-45,000 tonnes of air cargo.
The terminal will comprise a 4,600 sq m warehouse including 285 sq m refrigerated/cool facilies for perishables handling, and some 1,600 sq m office space including offices for rent by customers and forwarders.
-We have deliberately avoided duplicating the high-tech approach with automated stackers seen elsewhere, but the terminal includes four pallet building stations, lanes for thru-going pallets, sophisticated TV monitoring and other security equipment, says Robert Arendal, WFS special consultant.
From the outset the new terminal will be managed by Marc Claesen, WFS manager Benelux, on an interim basis till a final decision on future management has been made.
-We cannot yet reveal which airlines will serve as launch customers, but negotiations are in the process. It is of course a major asset for the new terminal to be part of a strong network comprising terminals in Europe, the USA and in the Far East, says Mr Arendal.
