Feb 1, 2006 (newstodate): In 2005, the Latvian airport of Ventspils saw its share of the country's growing aviation business on the increase.
The airport reports a 48 percent growth in passenger volumes, and is keen to see the trend continuing in 2006.
The airport has found a strong market demand for routes to Riga, Visby, Jonkoping and Stockholm, and has appealed to airlines with a risk-sharing program if they decide to operate at the airport.
In 2004 Ventspils Airport became Latvia's first airport to be certified in accordance with ICAO certification requirements, and in 2005 the installation of an automated ATIS system was completed.
