Sources say that pending approval by the Lithuanian autohrities, the Swedish low cost carrier FlyMe, where the Icelandic holding company Fons owns the majority of stocks, has gained rights to buy the majority of stocks in the Lithuanian carrier Lithuanian Airlines.
The owners of Fons are Palmi Haraldsson and Johannes Kristinsson. Fons is also the owner of Iceland Express.
The case will be concluded when a financial study has been concluded by March 30, according to the source.
In 2005 the carrier was privatised, and is now owned by a group, LAL Investment Fund comprising FIMA, Garantas and ZIA Valda.
