Feb 7, 2006 (newstodate): The actual volume of Finland's air cargo tonnage is not easily verified.
According to official Finnish CAA figures, the market was further down by 3.8 percent to 127,726 tonnes in 2005.
-My suspicion is that these statistics do not include air cargo that leaves with an air waybill, but on rubber wheels, says Anders von Bell, Waco Finland managing director.
-Much cargo is probably trucked between Finland and the continental hubs as well as Copenhagen and Gothenburg, and this is not reflected in the official statistics, he says.
-It is safe to assume that contemporary volumes do not compare to those of earlier times when Finnish telecom manufacturers exported large quantities of equipment. But I doubt that we saw Finland's total cargo volumes much down in 2005. I would estimate that it was roughly at the same level that the year before.
Air cargo is WACO Finland's main business, with seafreight forwarding as the second pillar.
The company employs a total of 42 staff at five locations in Finland.
